Inter-view

NWDAF and Off the Page Writers

Off the Page is a writers group established in 2004 by North West Disability Arts Forum with writer and dramaturg Kaite O’Reilly. Its aim is to develop and produce new work by Disabled and Deaf writers from across the Northwest region, working closely in partnership with other organisations.

Initial stimulus for the Inter:view project was the work of Otto Karvonen, involving discussions with the artist about process, inspiration and location. The prime focus of the writers work now involves issues of time, place and ‘trace memories’, utilizing the city of Liverpool (and other locations) as the site of imagination. Real and invented histories are transposed onto public space in a variety of forms. Oral history, poetry, dramatic monologue, prose - personal, invented or historically researched experiences are ‘mapped’ onto the cityscape.
