Competitions: Blogging Competition
This competition runs until 1 October and is open to all bloggers. Two winners will be honoured with a private tour with a guest on 9 October with the Head Curator of Touched in the Public Realm, Lorenzo Fusi. Their entries will also be posted to the Biennial Blog and linked through social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook. Please email competitions@biennial.com for more information or to submit your blog.
The Rules:
Bloggers will need to visit the Touched exhibition during the first two weeks of the Biennial and reflect on what they've seen as well as it's relation (or not) to the theme Touched. This should not be a glowing review (unless that is truly what you feel), but instead a realistic account of your opinions.
The maximum word limit is 500 words.
Photos, videos, and audio content are encouraged.
Please submit to competitions@biennial.com the link to your post by 5pm 1 October. A panel will judge all the blogs and notify the winner by 5 October. Included on the panel are the esteemed bloggers David Lloyd of SevenStreets and Ian Jackson of Art In Liverpool.
T&Cs:
The date of the tour is set for 9 October reflecting Lorenzo Fusi's availabilty. Other arrangements can be made for a private tour if the winning applicants are not free that Saturday. However, we cannot guarentee that it will be Lorenzo leading that tour and may be instead another member from the Biennial curatorial team. If you have any questions, please direct them to the email address above.
Other Opportunities:
Artist Studio in Seaforth-
In April 2009 Liverpool Biennial took over an old post office in Stella Precinct, Seaforth Village (very near the Seaforth & Litherland Train Station- so very accessible) and transformed it into an artist studio, engaging the local people with artists David Bade and Kerry Morrison.
After the residencies ended, we kept the space for those members of the community to carry on using as a meeting place - from Bingo to Brownies, the place has been well used but the time has now come for us to hand back the keys.
We think it would be an ideal space for artists etc. to make use of, and is next to lots of other empty shop units that could also be used. A collective of artists working together might be interesting, and it will always be an area that has a regeneration focus, with lots of local councillors, and housing associations keen on artists working in the area.
The rent is very cheap, at the moment £200 per month, and its quite a large and interesting space.... The landlord of all the units is very keen to negotiate too on other units and he has made an offer, in order for the premises to carry on being used, that he would continue to rent at this rate (until March 2011 to then be reviewed) to a group of artists for use as a studio/gallery.
This would NOT be part of any Biennial project I hasten to add, just a great opportunity for a local artists.
The space also has a kitchen and upstairs storage space and bathroom.
