Free Tours: Carlos Cruz-Diez's Dazzle Ship

The Edmund Gardner, a historic pilot ship owned and conserved by Merseyside Maritime Museum, has been transformed into a vibrant monument for the city by contemporary artist Carlos Cruz-Diez. Inspired by the 'dazzle' camouflage technique of the First World War, the vessel operates now not only as a historical artefact of Liverpool's past, but a well-loved public artwork.

Take a look behind the scenes, from the engine room to the wheelhouse with Maritime Museum's free guided tours throughout summer - perfect for a family day out!

Tours are held at 11am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in June, July and August.

Each tour lasts one hour. Meet in the Museum of Liverpool entrance foyer. Places are limited so advance booking is essential, telephone 0151 478 4545.

Please note that the ship has uneven surfaces, steep stairways and low steps, meaning it is not fully accessible and unable to accommodate wheelchair users, pushchairs or prams. Please wear appropriate sensible footwear for a safe and enjoyable visit.
