Due to popular demand we are holding one final gardening club at the Resilience Garden for Liverpool Biennial's closing weekend.

Join us as we celebrate this astonishing community project and the fantastic group of people behind it. There will be family-friendly activities including gardening and games. You can also experience the concept of resilience through taste and the symbolic meanings of plants. Inspired by the Resilience Garden, a selection of herbal tea and sweet treats will be available, created by Sufea Mohamad Noor as a way to open up a conversation about what it means to be postcolonial.

The Resilience Garden by artist Mohamed Bourouissa, is inspired by a garden the artist encountered in Blida, Algeria, made by a patient of the psychoanalyst and writer Frantz Fanon. Fanon’s patient underwent occupational therapy through gardening, reflecting the organisation of his mental space in the structure of his garden. Bourouissa will create a similar garden in collaboration with Kingsley Community School, working with the local community, gardeners, school pupils, teachers and artists.

The site is next to the Adult Learning Centre and on the grounds of the school.

Please be aware this can be a messy activity, so appropriate clothing should be worn.

Mohamed Bourouissa, Resilience Garden, 2018 is commissioned by Liverpool Biennial in partnership with Kingsley Community School and Granby Four Streets CLT. Supported by Postcode Local Trust, Fluxus and Granby Continental Store.
