The ‘razzy’ world of Dogsy Ma Bone, Marvin Gaye Chetwynd's spectacular production made with and for children, comes to Tate Modern, London this summer as part of the Tate Exchange programme.

Dogsy Ma Bone will be screened daily between Wednesday 21 June – Sunday 25 June (12 – 6pm), culminating in a special live performance by the original Dogsy cast on Saturday 24 June (3pm). On Sunday 25 June, families are also invited to make and take to the catwalk their own Dogsy-inspired costumes and props at our free family workshop (2 – 5pm, drop-in).

Chetwynd’s film and performance – commissioned for Liverpool Biennial 2016 – was created with 78 Liverpool-based young people using the city as a backdrop to the action. The work was inspired by Bertolt Brecht’s Threepenny Opera (1928) and Betty Boop’s A Song A Day (1936) and was first shown at Cains Brewery. At Tate Exchange, the film will be shown in a special pop-up installation, surrounded by hand-made animal costumes and props.

Tate Exchange is an annual programme at Tate Modern, London that brings together international artists, more than 50 partners within and beyond the arts, and visitors.

Marvin Gaye Chetwynd, Dogsy Ma Bone, 2016 is commissioned by Liverpool Biennial in partnership with Metal. Supported by Sadie Coles HQ, The Granada Foundation, PH Holt Foundation, Hemby Trust and St Georges Hall Liverpool. Dogsy Ma Bone, 2016 at Tate Exchange is supported by PH Holt Foundation.
