Joasia Krysa is a curator and scholar working at the intersection of critical theory, contemporary art and digital technology, and a co-curator of Liverpool Biennial 2016.

Krysa is Professor of Exhibition Research and Head of Art and Design at Liverpool John Moores University, with an adjunct position at Liverpool Biennial. Previous appointments include as Artistic Director of Kunsthal Aarhus, Denmark; part of curatorial team for Documenta 13. She is currently appointed curator of the 2nd Helsinki Biennial (2023). She has a background in curatorial studies (Goldsmiths, University of London), cultural theory (Wroclaw University), political sciences (Maria Curie Sklodowska University), and has Phd in Fine Art Curating (Software Curating). At Liverpool School of Art and Design, Prof. Krysa is part of the Senior Management Team, leading portfolio of Art and Design subjects and the school’s research unit (Unit of Assessment 32: Art and Design). She is also a member of the steering committee for IAT – the Institute of Art and Technology and leading Exhibition Research Lab (ERL), public gallery and an academic research centre dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of exhibitions and curatorial knowledge. In 2020-21, she served as a full panel member for REF 2021 – UKRI Research Excellence Framework (Panel 32 Art and Design).
