Tate Liverpool is currently based at RIBA North on Mann Island, whilst the gallery is undergoing an ambitious transformation. During this time, Tate Liverpool and RIBA North present a collaborative programme of collection displays, family activities and public events.
Both venues have previously exhibited Biennial shows. In 2023 Tate Liverpool displayed Isabel do Rosário’s largescale textile pieces, shown for the first time outside of Brazil and exhibited Edgar Calel’s Ru k’ ox k’ob’el jun ojer etemab’el (The Echo of an Ancient Form of Knowledge) for the first time in the UK. In 2018 RIBA North commissioned building scientist Mae-Ling Lokko to create an installation using biobricks made from mushrooms grown by local children and groups.
